The Board of Elections and Registration Board meeting was held December 5, 2002

at 2:00 p.m.



Members Present: Walter J. Wright, Jr. ?

Ken Barfield



Jan Dickens, Chairperson, was excused from the meeting due to illness.



A motion was made and seconded to approve the September and October board

meeting was approved as amended. Vote unanimous.



NEW BUSINESS:



Nancy stated that Jan Dickens asked that the date of the January board meeting

be put on the agenda for changing the date because of the holidays. The Board

voted to hold the January board meeting on January 9, 2003. Vote unanimous.



Nancy stated that the chairperson asked for someone from the sheriff?s

department to give a report on the bomb threat that happened on election day.

The person from CEMERT was not available for today?s meeting but will be

contacted about giving a report during the January board meeting.



OLD BUSINESS:



BY-LAWS: Ken stated that the by-laws will be mailed to each member by January

1st so that they can be reviewed during the January board meeting.



NOVEMBER 5TH ELECTION: Each board member was asked to write down their

concerns and issues about the November election. Ken Barfield presented the

board with concerns he had during the election. The concerns are made a part

of the minutes.



Margaret made a motion that Ken develop some type of policy that the board can

implement and follow up on about the racial mixture of clerks within the

precincts. Motion seconded, vote unanimous.



Nancy asked for clarification on some of the concerns and issues that Ken

presented to the board.

The board went into Executive Session to discuss a personnel matter.



Being no further business to discuss, the meeting was adjourned.
