SUBJECT: Sell of City Property (Fire Station)
INITIATED BY: City Manager?s Office
Recommendation: Approve the attached Resolution declaring the property
as surplus and authorize the City Manager to sell property identified as Tax
Map Parcel 014-019-006, a/k/a 3402 6th Avenue, Columbus, Muscogee County,
Georgia, as identified on the attached map.
Background: The property has been in the possession of the city since
1951. It is a 2-story brick building, used for a neighborhood fire station
that closed in 2002. The building was constructed in 1954 and is 4,830 +/-
square feet.
Analysis: The property consists of 22,500 +/- Sq. Ft. and a structure
consisting of 4,830 +/- Sq. Ft. Subject property is zoned R-4 and is located
near an elementary school.
Financial Considerations: The fair market value of the property is $100,000.00.
A Warranty Deed will transfer the property.
Legal Considerations: Council must approve the sell of real estate and
newspaper notices shall be published in accordance with Columbus Charter
Section 7-501.
Recommendations/ Actions: Approve the attached Resolution declaring the
property surplus and authorizing the sell of the above-identified property.
A RESOLUTION

AUTHORIZING A RESOLUTION DECLARING 4,830 +/- SQ FT OF PROPERTY AS SURPLUS AND
AUTHORIZING THE SELL OF SAID PROPERTY IDENTIFIED AS TAX MAP PARCEL 014-019-006,
a/k/a 3402 6TH AVENUE, COLUMBUS, MUSCOGEE COUNTY, GEORGIA.
WHEREAS, the Consolidated Government of Columbus acquired the above
described property in 1951, as a 2-story neighborhood fire station that closed
in 2002; and,
WHEREAS, the property consist of 22,500 sq. ft. and is zoned R-4; and,
WHEREAS, it is in the best interest of the Consolidated Government of
Columbus, Georgia to sell the property as surplus; and,
WHEREAS, the property will be advertised for sell in accordance with
Section 7-501 of the City Code.
NOW, THEREFORE, THE COUNCIL OF COLUMBUS, GEORGIA, HEREBY
RESOLVES AS FOLLOWS:
That the Council of Columbus Georgia hereby declares the property
identified on Tax Map 014-019-006, as surplus and authorizes the City Manager
to execute all documents necessary to sell said property at fair market value.
Introduced at a regular meeting of the Council of Columbus, Georgia, held
the ______ day of ____________ 2002 , and adopted at said meeting by the
affirmative vote of _____ members of said Council.
