A RESOLUTION

No.



WHEREAS, Colonel Charles D. Cornwell, Chief of Staff at Ft. Benning, Georgia

will be retiring on August 4, 2005;



WHEREAS, he has served ably as Chief of Staff for Major General Eaton and Major

General Freakley at Ft. Benning;



WHEREAS, he served as Director of Ft. Benning?s CARE (Community Activities

Resource Exchange) which promoted downtown activities within the Ft. Benning

community;



WHEREAS, he has also served the Columbus community in many ways including

service as board member of United Way of the Chattahoochee Valley, Springer

Opera House Art Association, and the Chattahoochee Valley Sports Hall of Fame

and as a volunteer for Wiregrass Hospice;



WHEREAS, he is a member of the Rotary Club, an enthusiastic cyclist, an avid

hunter and a member of St. Anne?s Catholic Church;



WHEREAS, Colonel Cornwell?s accomplishments and contributions to the Columbus

community are worthy of special recognition by this Council.



NOW, THEREFORE, THE COUNCIL OF COLUMBUS, GEORGIA HEREBY RESOLVES:



We hereby commend and express our deep appreciation to Colonel Charles D.

Cornwell for his service as Chief of Staff at Ft. Benning, Georgia and for his

many contributions to the Columbus community. We wish him every success in his

retirement. Let a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Colonel

Charles D. Cornwell.
