A RESOLUTION



NO.



WHEREAS, the Columbus American Little League 11-12 All-Stars recently won the

2002 Georgia State Championship;



WHEREAS, the American All-Stars won the District 8 Tournament going undefeated

before advancing to the State Championship;



WHEREAS, in the State Tournament, Columbus American defeated host team Smyrna

12-2, defeated Toccoa 13-1, defeated Athens 10-4, defeated Warner Robins 5-0

and battled Toccoa twice before winning the championship game 3-0 in Smyrna,

Georgia;



WHEREAS, Columbus American then advanced to the Little League Southern Regional

Championship in Gulfport, Florida, where they beat Tennessee 13-3 and

eventually lost a hard-fought battle to Phenix City American 6-5;



WHEREAS, this team's accomplishments are worthy of special recognition by this

Council.



NOW, THEREFORE, THE COUNCIL OF COLUMBUS, GEORGIA HEREBY RESOLVES:



We hereby commend and congratulate the following Columbus American Little

League 11-12 All-Stars upon their victory in the 2002 Georgia State

Championship: Will Badcock, Cam Greathouse, Cain Fuller, John Robert Hammock,

Kane Kennedy, Zach Laughlin, Matthew Lowery, Alan Page, Carter Pair, Zach

Rathel, Nick Sarianides and Curt Shavers, Manager Steve Fuller and Coaches Ray

Massengale and Rob Hammock. Columbus is truly proud of this state championship

team?s hard work and dedication and we wish them every success in the future.
