AN ORDINANCE



AN ORDINANCE AMENDING THE JUVENILE COURT FY03 BUDGET FROM $538,969 TO

$380,188; ACCEPTING $127,500 FROM THE ADMINISTRATIVE OFFICE OF THE COURTS;

AUTHORIZING THE POSITION OF JUVENILE COURT JUDGE, PART-TIME; AND CREATING THE

CIRCUIT WIDE JUVENILE COURT BUDGET.



WHEREAS, pursuant to O.C.G.A 15-11-18 the Superior Courts Judges of the

Chattahoochee Judical Circuit have appointed Judge Aaron Cohn, Judge Warner

Kennon, and Wayne Jernigan to Judge of the Juvenile Court of the Chattahoochee

Judical Circuit;



WHEREAS, Judge Cohn was appointed as a full-time judge and Judge Kennon and

Judge Jernigan were appointed as part-time judges (two days per week);



WHEREAS, the Chattahoochee Judical Circuit is comprised of Muscogee,

Harris, Talbot, Marion, Taylor and Chattahoochee counties;



WHEREAS, the Columbus Consolidated Government will receive $127,500

from the Administrative Office of the Courts to compensate the circuit wide

judges;



WHEREAS, the Columbus Consolidated Government will receive $10,145

from the other counties in the Chattahoochee Judical Circuit;



WHEREAS, the creation of the Circuit Wide Juvenile Court budget will

provide a means to track all cost associated with the Circuit Wide Court;



WHEREAS, the amendment to the Juvenile Court budget will move the salaries,

benefits and operating costs of Judge Cohn and Judge Kennon to the newly

created Circuit Wide Juvenile Court budget.



NOW, THEREFORE, THE COUNCIL OF COLUMBUS, GEORGIA, HEREBY ORDAINS:



1. The Juvenile Court budget is decreased from $538,969 to $380,188, a decrease

of $158,781.



2. The City Manager is authorized to accept $127,500 from the Administrative

Office of the Courts to compensate the Circuit Wide Juvenile Court Judges.



3. The position of Juvenile Court Judge, Part-time is authorized.



4. The Circuit Wide Juvenile Court budget is created in the amount of $201,382.





5. The City Manager is authorized to accept $10,145 from the other counties

(Harris, Talbot, Marion, Taylor, Chattahoochee) in the Chattahoochee Judical

Circuit.
