WHEREAS, Mrs. Virginia E. Williams, with the Jail Medical Clinic, retired on
September 30, 2003;
WHEREAS, Nurse Williams has been with the Jail Medical Clinic since September
14, 1998;
NOW, THEREFORE THE COUNCIL OF COLUMBUS, GEORGIA HEREBY RESOLVES:
This Council hereby expresses its appreciation for the diligent and faithful
service of
MRS. VIRGINIA E. WILLIAMS
who has served with the Jail Medical Clinic for 5 years. We wish for her
happiness and contentment in her retirement.

WHEREAS, Mr. Herman M. Murphy, with the Columbus Water Works, retired on
September 30, 2003;
WHEREAS, Mr. Murphy has been with the Columbus Water Works since July 22, 1988;
NOW, THEREFORE THE COUNCIL OF COLUMBUS, GEORGIA HEREBY RESOLVES:
This Council hereby expresses its appreciation for the diligent and faithful

MR. HERMAN M. MURPHY
who has served with the Columbus Water Works for 15 years. We wish for him

WHEREAS, Mr. Jerry S. Patterson, former Plans Examiner with the Inspections and
Code Enforcement Division, died on September 5, 2003;
WHEREAS, Mr. Patterson retired on September 1, 2001 after serving 27 years with
the Inspections and Code Enforcement Division.
NOW, THEREFORE THE COUNCIL OF COLUMBUS, GEORGIA HEREBY RESOLVES:
We hereby convey to the family of Mr. Jerry S. Patterson our sincere
condolences and deepest sympathy. Mr. Patterson was an outstanding employee of
the Inspections and Code Enforcement Division and he will be missed by all who
knew him.

Department, died on August 14, 2003;
WHEREAS, Mr. Newsome retired on September 30, 1976 after serving 27 years with
the Columbus Fire Department.
NOW, THEREFORE THE COUNCIL OF COLUMBUS, GEORGIA HEREBY RESOLVES:
We hereby convey to the family of Mr. B. O. Newsome our sincere condolences and
deepest sympathy. Mr. Newsome was an outstanding employee of the Columbus Fire
Department and he will be missed by all who knew him.

Department, died on September 25, 2003;
WHEREAS, Mr. Chapman retired on September 1, 1986 after serving 14 years with
the Columbus Police Department.
NOW, THEREFORE THE COUNCIL OF COLUMBUS, GEORGIA HEREBY RESOLVES:
We hereby convey to the family of Mr. John W. Chapman, Sr. our sincere
condolences and deepest sympathy. Mr. Chapman was an outstanding employee of
the Columbus Police Department and he will be missed by all who knew him.
