A RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, Cadet Capt. Courtland E. Pegan, Jr. of Carver High School recently
received the Junior ROTC's Legion of Valor Bronze Cross Achievement Award;
WHEREAS, out of 97,000 candidates, only seven high school students in the
United States received this award and Courtland was the only winner from
Georgia;
WHEREAS, the award is the highest honor awarded members of Junior ROTC and the
award is made by a blue-chip panel of military veterans, all either Medal of
Honor recipients or Distinguished Service Cross/Navy Cross winners;
WHEREAS, Courtland is in line to secure an all-expenses paid Army or Air Force
ROTC scholarship to Georgia Tech, where he plans to study aerospace engineering;
WHEREAS, Courtland's father served in the Army in the Persian Gulf during
Desert Storm;
WHEREAS, Courtland's achievements are worthy of special recognition by this
Council.
NOW, THEREFORE, THE COUNCIL OF COLUMBUS, GEORGIA HEREBY RESOLVES:
We hereby commend and congratulate Cadet Capt. Courtland E. Pegan, Jr. of
Carver High School upon his receipt of the Junior ROTC's Legion of Valor Bronze
Cross Achievement Award. Columbus is proud of his academic achievements and
his service to his community and country. Let a copy of this resolution be
forwarded to Cadet Capt. Courtland E. Pegan, Jr.
