A RESOLUTION



NO.



WHEREAS, Sam Mitchell has been recently selected as a 2002 inductee to the

Chattahoochee Valley Sports Hall of Fame;



WHEREAS, he led Columbus High School to the semi-finals of the State Basketball

Championship in 1981;



WHEREAS, he was the all-time leading scorer at Mercer University with 1,986

points and the all-time leading rebounder for the Minnesota Timberwolves and

all-time leader in games played;



WHEREAS, Mr. Mitchell played in every game for five seasons with

Minnesota and has missed only thirty-two games in a twelve-year career;



WHEREAS, he is also active in Special Olympics from Georgia to

Minnesota and is involved in many other community team projects.



NOW, THEREFORE, THE COUNCIL OF COLUMBUS, GEORGIA HEREBY RESOLVES:



We hereby commend and congratulate Mr. Sam Mitchell upon his selection as a

2002 inductee to the Chattahoochee Valley Sports Hall of Fame and we wish him

every success in the future. Let a copy of this Resolution be forwarded to Mr.

Sam Mitchell.
