A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE SUBMISSION AND IF APPROVED THE ACCEPTANCE OF A
$15,000 GRANT FROM THE GOVERNOR?S OFFICE OF HIGHWAY SAFETY TO SUPPORT THE COSTS
OF BUYING EQUIPMENT AND SUPPLIES FOR ENHANCING TRAFFIC ENFORCEMENT AND
EDUCATING THE PUBLIC IN HIGHWAY SAFETY AND AMEND MULTI-GOVERNMENTAL FUND (216)
BY A LIKE AMOUNT.
WHEREAS, the Columbus Consolidated Government is committed to enforcing
the traffic laws and educating the public in highway safety; and,
WHEREAS, the Governor?s Office of Highway Safety has offered the ?Law
Enforcement Network Grants? to educate the public on highway safety issues and
implement programs to reduce crashes, injuries, and fatalities on Georgia?s
roadways; and,
WHEREAS, The Columbus Police Department requests permission to make
application to receive up to $15,000 funding to purchase equipment and supplies
to enhance traffic enforcement and educate the public in highway safety in the
City.
NOW, THEREFORE, THE COUNCIL OF COLUMBUS, GEORGIA, HEREBY RESOLVES AS
FOLLOWS:
That the City Manager is hereby authorized to submit and if approved
accept a $15,000 grant from the Governor?s Office of Highway Safety and amend
the Multi-Governmental Fund (216) by a like amount.
Introduced at a regular meeting of the Council of Columbus, Georgia,
held the _______ day of ________ 2005 and adopted at said meeting by the
affirmative vote of __________ members of said Council.
