A RESOLUTION
NO.
WHEREAS, Mr. George Mahlon Hutto, Jr. of Columbus died on April 27, 2003;
WHEREAS, Mr. Hutto was born February 18, 1944, in Alexandria, Virginia, and
spent fifty-five of his years in Columbus, Georgia;
WHEREAS, Mr. Hutto and was a 1961 graduate of Columbus High School and later
graduated from the University of Georgia having completed coursework for a PhD
in Economics;
WHEREAS, Mr. Hutto was the co-owner, with his wife, Jennifer, and operator of
Nathan?s Feed & Seed Store located at 2222 2nd Avenue in Columbus, Georgia;
WHEREAS, Mr. Hutto was a Master Gardener for the State of Georgia;
WHEREAS, Mr. Hutto was beloved by many as Mr. Greenthumb on WLTZ-TVs [Channel
38] Rise and Shine morning program;
WHEREAS, Mr. Hutto loved nothing more than to share his wealth of knowledge
with others and to give his time and talents to students and the citizens of
Columbus.
NOW, THEREFORE, THE COUNCIL OF COLUMBUS, GEORGIA HEREBY RESOLVES:
We hereby convey to the family of Mr. George Mahlon Hutto, Jr., our sincere
condolences and deepest sympathy. His service to the Columbus community will
long be remembered. Let a copy of this resolution be forwarded to the family
of Mr. George Mahlon Hutto, Jr.
