A RESOLUTION

NO.



WHEREAS, Columbus Against Drugs (CAD) recently hosted a National Drug Fighters

Reunion along with the Columbus Police Department from August 1-4, 2002;



WHEREAS, CAD is a network of organized neighborhood groups that work together

with law enforcement agencies to remove drug activity from local neighborhoods;



WHEREAS, members of the CAD network include Carver Heights Against Drugs

(CHAD), Beallwood Area Network Development (BAND), South Columbus Against Drugs

(SCAD), Chase Chasing Out Drugs (CCOD), Drug Fighters of Columbus (DFOC), East

Columbus Against Drugs (ECAD), Peabody Apartments Against Drugs (PAAD),

Residents Against Illegal Drugs (RAID), South Westview Against Drugs (SWAD),

Winterfield on the Move Against Drugs (WOTMAD), and East Highland Against Drugs

(EHAD);



WHEREAS, the reunion included classes dealing with drug prevention programs,

the Drug Court Program in Juvenile Court, and organization of drug fighting

groups;



WHEREAS, the event culminated with a Community Anti-Drug March held on August

3, 2002;



WHEREAS, this event is worthy of special recognition by this Council.



NOW, THEREFORE, THE COUNCIL OF COLUMBUS, GEORGIA HEREBY RESOLVES:



We hereby commend and express our deep appreciation to Sgt. Renee Mcaneny,

Chief Willie Dozier, Assistant Chief Wesley Mott and the Columbus Police

Department for organizing and hosting the National Drug Fighters Reunion held

in Columbus on August 1-4, 2002. Let a copy of this Resolution be forwarded to

Sgt. Renee Mcaneny, Chief Willie Dozier and Assistant Chief Wesley Mott.
