THE GREATER COLUMBUS GOLF AUTHORITY

MINUTES OF MEETING

August 24, 2004

The Greater Columbus Golf Authority held the scheduled monthly meeting at Bull

Creek Golf Course. Members present were Chairman Donald Clack, Floyd

Washington, Richard Hagler, Michael Silverstein, Nancy Wilkeson, Earl Bagley,

June Holder, Rev. Willie Hill and Rhudine Nelson. Staff members present were

John Milam and Steve Brown.

Minutes of the July 27, 2004, meeting were approved as presented. Motion made

by Rhudine Nelson and seconded by June Holder.

Report of Steve Brown, Superintendent

The greens are receiving weekly topdressings and have no major problems. The

fairways will be sprayed with Primo, a growth retardant. An application of

herbicide around the greens and tees will be sprayed during September. Also in

September, with the grass growth slowing down, maintenance will begin several

projects. They include edging around all bunkers and cart paths, erosion

control along the creek bank on 3 West, 13 West and 15 West; removing the silt

in the creek on 3 East and repairing the wash out on 15 East and along the

edges of the cart paths.

There is a possibility that one prison guard will be out for several weeks in

September for surgery.

Report of John Milam, Director of Golf

Godwin Creek

The irrigation system has been repaired at Godwin Creek. The greens have been

aerified. Parks and Recreation donated $400 worth of fertilizer. According to

Mr. Dick Merieux things are progressing well and being handled properly.

Bull Creek and Oxbow Creek

Bull Creek?s net earning for July ?04 was $64,130. For fiscal year ?04, Bull

Creek had approximately $750,000 in write-downs and lost approximately

$700,000.

Oxbow Creek lost about $14,690 for July ?04. The City accepts these figures

with only 9 holes of play.

Northern Little League Ball Field Fence

Mr. Wagner, President of Northern Little League, told John that they did not

have any money to put up the 400? of fence protecting our course from their two

practice ball fields. John called Mr. Isaiah Hugley of Park & Recreation and

they too have no money. Michael Silverstein suggested that John call Isaiah

Hugley and have him write a letter telling Northern Little League that they are

obligated to pay as was promised earlier.

New Business

John asked the authority members to look over several suggestions to the

re-naming of the East and West Course. It is somewhat confusing when finishing

play on 12 West and going to the next hole 16 East. It was also suggested that

using the gate by 13 West would help steer golfers in the right direction.

The carpet in the clubhouse will be replaced when the time changes. Our

prisoners will be tearing up the old carpet.

Butterfingers will install a new ice machine that will eliminate the depletion

of ice for the golfers. It was suggested that they post hours of operation in

the snack bar and on the portable vending trailer by 11 West.

Floyd Washington suggests that the marshals carry a first aid kit. It will be

looked into.

The formal dedication of the West Course will be held on Friday, September 17th

at 4 p.m. June Holder requests Clyde Fountain received an

invitation. The authority members received a copy of the plaque honoring Al

Riesenburger. This plaque will sit on top a pedestal.

Richard Hagler and Earl Bagley made a motion for the election of officers for

fiscal year 2005. Donald Clack for Chairman, Richard Hagler for Vice-Chairman,

and Nancy Wilkeson as Secretary. Michael Silverstein seconded the motion.

Motion passed.

A motion was made at 5:41 p.m. to adjourn by Michael Silverstein and seconded

by

Earl Bagley.

Respectfully submitted,

Nancy Wilkeson, Secretary
