A RESOLUTION COMMENDING AND CONGRATULATING METRA BUS OPERATORS FOR

DEMONSTRATING THEIR EXPERT DRIVING SKILLS IN THE GEORGIA STATE BUS RODEO

COMPETITION.



WHEREAS, on July 17, 2005, the Georgia Transit Association, Georgia

Department of Transportation and METRA Transit System sponsored the Annual

Georgia State Bus Rodeo with METRA as host; and,



WHEREAS, thirteen rural systems and nine urban systems throughout the

state of Georgia participated in categories that included the 15 passenger van,

Paratransit Cut-Away and 35 foot bus; and,



WHEREAS, METRA Bus Operators exhibited expert driving skills by

maneuvering a vehicle through an intricate obstacle course with more than fifty

competitors throughout the state which measured professional skills, knowledge

of safety regulations, bus equipment and personal appearance; and,



WHEREAS, the following METRA Bus Operators participated in the Rodeo

event: Neta Allison, Mildred Protho, Roger Sinquefield, Darrion Mitchell and

Raymond Roberts; and,



WHEREAS, METRA Bus Operator Roger Sinquefield won third place in the

thirty-five foot category against the urban systems; and,



WHEREAS, METRA won 2nd place in the overall Team Category; and,



WHEREAS, METRA Bus Operator, Roger Sinquefield will represent Columbus in the

International Bus Rodeo Competition in Dallas, Texas in September 2005.





NOW, THEREFORE, THE COUNCIL OF COLUMBUS, GEORGIA HEREBY RESOLVES:



We commend and congratulate METRA Bus Operators for demonstrating their

expert driving skills in the Annual State Bus Operator Rodeo Competition.

METRA's accomplishment gives local and statewide recognition to METRA. They are

an asset to the Columbus Consolidated Government and to the entire community.
