The Board of Elections and Voter Registration Board Meeting was called to order
by the Chairperson, Walter J. Wright, Jr.
Motion was made and seconded to accept the July board meeting minutes. Vote
was unanimous.
NEW BUSINESS: Margaret Jenkins asked about the incident log that Ken Barfield
wanted implemented. The board discussed having each person who answers the
phone log the problem and give to Nancy to consolidate for correction at the
next election.
After meeting with the City Attorney, Clifton Fay, Nancy told the board that
there is no flexibility in the wording of the LOST ballot question that is to
appear as a special election on the November 2nd General Election.
If no provisional ballots were voted during the run-off election, the board
would not have a meeting on Thursday to count them. The certifying of the
August 10th run-off election will be done on Friday, August 13th at 5:30 p.m.
The board discussed problems that are occurring at the precincts during this
run-off election. Mr. Roberts was visiting the Wynnbrook precinct where the
most problems concerning the 8th Congressional District were encountered. The
concerns are with the encoder clerk. Calls are being received from different
voters who do not reside in the 8th Congressional District who insist they
voted the 8th Congressional District on July 20th. Mr. Roberts suggested that
the number be circled in the split precincts. It was also suggested that
separate poll workers be assigned for the split precincts to determine the
voter?s districts.
The L&A testing of the touch screen unites will begin Monday September 13th for
the November 2, 2004 General Election.
The Secretary of State?s Office will be purchasing more voting machines for
each county.
Nancy will put together a job description for the Area Managers.
Being no further business to discuss, the meeting was adjourned.
