NO.



WHEREAS, Tim Vinson, teacher at Jordan Vocational High School, was named as

2004 Teacher of the Year for the Muscogee County School District;



WHEREAS, Mr. Vinson received the award from the Muscogee Educational Excellence

Foundation at a ceremony held at the Columbus Convention & Trade Center on May

4, 2004;



WHEREAS, he was among 57 nominees honored from each of the public schools in

the Muscogee County School District;



WHEREAS, Mr. Vinson was awarded a $1,000 prize and the use of a vehicle from

Bill Heard Chevrolet for one year;



WHEREAS, a panel of the Foundation interviewed candidates for the award and

observed finalists in the class room;



WHEREAS, the award is given to a person who has worked diligently to recognize

experience and innovation in the teaching process;



WHEREAS, Mr. Vinson has taught school for thirteen years, attended Georgia

State Univresity's New Teacher Institute in 1992, graduated from Jordan

Vocational High School in 1984 and received his welding certificate from

Columbus Technical College in 1987;



WHEREAS, he also serves as co-chairman in the Partners in Education Committee,

serves on the West Georgia School-to-Work Recruitment Committee and Metals

Curriculum Development Committee for the Georgia Department of Education, is an

advisor for SkillsUSA-VICA and is an Assistant Scoutmaster.



NOW, THEREFORE, THE COUNCIL OF COLUMBUS, GEORGIA HEREBY RESOLVES:



We commend and congratulate Mr. Tim Vinson upon his selection as 2004 Teacher

of the Year for the Muscogee County School District and we wish him every

success in the future. Let a copy of this Resolution be forwarded to Mr. Tim

Vinson.
