Commending and congratulating Darrion Mitchell, METRA Transit System bus

operator, for demonstrating his expert driving skills in the International Bus

Operators Roadeo. Darrion?s accomplishment gives statewide and international

recognition to METRA and the Columbus Consolidated Government. He is an asset

to the Columbus Consolidated Government and to the entire community.



WHEREAS, Mr. Darrion Mitchell, a 27-year veteran of METRA Transit System,

recently won first place in the 35-foot Bus Competition at the 28th Annual

American Public Transportation Association International Bus Operator's Roadeo

held in Salt Lake City, Utah on September 27, 2003;



WHEREAS, Mr. Darrion Mitchell exhibit expert driving skills in the Roadeo,

including maneuvering a 35-foot bus through a one-half mile obstacle course,

and he was judged better than all other bus operators that participated from

across the nation and around the world;



WHEREAS, Mr. Mitchell has demonstrated personal determination, dedication and

excellence having won the International Roadeo in 1993 as well as the local and

State Championships over the years.



NOW, THEREFORE, THE COUNCIL OF COLUMBUS, GEORGIA HEREBY RESOLVES:



We commend and congratulate Darrion Mitchell, METRA Transit System Bus

Operator, for demonstrating his expert driving skills in the International Bus

Operator?s Roadeo. Darrion?s accomplishments give statewide and international

recognition to METRA Transit System and the Columbus Consolidated Government.

He is an asset to the Columbus Consolidated Government and to the entire

community.
