Subject Tennis Center

Description Have the staff to look at the City?s current policy as it relates

to the closing of the tennis centers on holidays and let?s consider the

possibility of having those tennis centers remain open. (Request of Councilor

Suber) If we are going to keep the tennis centers open on holidays, have the

staff to look at allowing the employees to utilize comp time instead of paying

overtime. (Request of Councilor Allen)

Response

As part of the FY06 budget, we cut $29,269 from Cooper Creek's budget in

wages. In order to do this, hours of operation were shortened and the center

was closed on all City recognized holidays.

If the Tennis Center remains open on the Christmas and New Year's holidays, the

cost will be as follows:

Both days would be the same cost as I will try to use part-time employees and

myself to cover the 12 hours we are open.

The other employees working those days are waged employees and are not eligible

for comp time. However, I don't think that we will run into an overtime

situation.

Wages: 229.12

Fica: 34.60

Electricity: 40.00

$303.72

This does not include any maintenance issues that arise or the water as it can

not be broken down exclusively to Cooper Creek. If any additional information

is required, please let me know..
