The terms of office of Ms. Lavern Jackson and Ms. Nancy Rinn on the

Hospital Authority will expire on November 14, 2004. Mr. Rinn is eligible to

succeed herself. Ms. Jackson is not eligible to succeed herself, as this will

be the end of her second full term of office when her current term expires.



The Council nominates three individuals for each vacancy and the

Authority itself, will then select its members from the list of nominees.



There are currently four (4) members who reside in Senatorial District 15

and five (5) members who reside in Senatorial District 16.



There are five (5) women currently serving on this board.



Enclosed is a copy of our data sheet, as well as a list of the current

members.

Charge/Mission

This board is responsible for the operation of Muscogee Manor and Highland

House nursing homes. It has nine members. The Columbus Council makes three

nomination for each vacancy. The authority itself actually fills the vacancies

CREATED BY: County Commissioner?s resolution of November 14, 1967 declaring a

need for the authority and appointing its original members. (Pursuant to the

provisions of the Georgia Hospital Authorities Law, O. C.C.G.A., Section

31-7-72).

COMPOSITION OF BOARD: Board has eleven members. (O.C.G.A., Sec 31-7-72 (a).

The authority has had nine members, in the past, for several years.



QUALIFICATIONS OF MEMBERS: Shall be residents and qualified registered voter

of Columbus, Georgia (Col. Code, Sec. 2-3.02)



MEMBERS APPOINTED BY: For each vacancy, the Columbus Council submits a list of

three eligible persons to the Hospital Authority of Columbus. From this list,

the Authority selects one of the individuals to fill the vacancy (O.C.G.A.,

Sec. 31-7-72 (b) (1) through (3)



TERMS OF OFFICE: Staggered terms as specified by resolution of the Columbus

Council. For the past several years, members have been appointed to three-year
