MINUTES # 20-05



The Columbus, Georgia, Board of Tax Assessors met Wednesday, May 18, 2005, at

2:00PM with Chairman Lawton Grantham, Assessors Ann Grantham, William Braxton

and Pat Hunter present. Also present was Chief Appraiser Martin J. Land.

Assessor Richard Stallings was absent.



Assessor Ann Grantham made a motion to approve Minutes # 19-05, Assessor Pat

Hunter seconded the motion, motion carried unanimously.



Met with Attorney Mize and Mr. Watts representing St. Luke United Methodist

Church requesting non-taxability for properties located at 1043 3rd Ave (Parcel

ID 004 015 010) and 1030 2nd Ave (Parcel ID 004 015 015). Mr. Watts said the

property located at 1043 3rd Ave is currently being used for parking and the

building is currently used for storing clothing to be given away to the needy

the first Saturday of December. He said the Sunday School Classes have been

meeting there, folding and sorting the clothing. He said the future plan is to

use the property for expansion of the school or the church. Mr. Watts said the

property located at 1030 2nd Ave is being used as a place for college

ministries for college students living in the downtown area. They meet every

Sunday night for bible study and Christian fellowship. He said the property

might be used in the future to house adult Sunday School classes. The Board

requested a field review.
