A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO ACCEPT A LOCAL LAW

ENFORCEMENT BLOCK GRANT (LLEBG) FOR $167,537 FROM THE BUREAU OF JUSTICE

ADMINISTRATION (BJA), $35,043 IN REMAINING FUNDS FROM FY02 GRANT AND AMEND THE

BUDGET THROUGH INCREASING THE MULTI-GOVERNMENTAL FUND BY $186,152.



WHEREAS, the Columbus Consolidated Government is committed to providing

support for Public Safety Projects and these funds will support projects which

will improve the ability of public safety agencies to provide services to our

community, and;



WHEREAS, the Muscogee County School District, the Muscogee County

Sheriff=s Office, the Columbus Police Department and the Columbus Fire

Department, the Columbus Drug Court, Columbus Rape Crisis and Children=s Tree

House have submitted proposals for funding; and,



WHEREAS, the BJA/LLEBG Advisory Board has approved the allocation of

funds for the proposed projects (see attachment #1); and,



WHEREAS, a public hearing has been held on this date; and,



WHEREAS, the total grant amount is $186,152 with $167,537 being

provided by the LLEBG and 10% or $18,615 allocated as the local match and

$35,043 being reallocated from the FY02 Grant.



NOW THEREFORE, THE COUNCIL OF COLUMBUS, GEORGIA HEREBY RESOLVES:



That the City Manager is hereby authorized to:

1) Accept a Local Law Enforcement Block Grant for $167,537 from the Bureau of

Justice Administration, approve the allocation of a 10% matching fund of

$18,615 budgeted in the Transfer Out to the Multi- Governmental Fund; and,

2) Reallocate $35,043 in remaining funds from FY02; and,

3) Amend the budget through increasing the Multi-Governmental Fund 216 by

$186,152.
