Report received from Godwin Creek during meeting showed bills are being paid
promptly. One item to be investigated was sales tax to determine if being paid
timely. First Tee meeting was held last week. 100 hole challenge fund raiser
scheduled Friday, May 2, 2003.
Report of John Milam, Director of Golf
Project Update: John Milam brought to our attention a development on #3 West
Course where creek bank in front of green is unstable and contractor is
suggesting building a retaining wall to shore-up creek bank at a cost of
$25,000. After discussion of options available, Richard Hagler made motion to
build retaining wall at a cost of $25,000, providing we are assured this will
insure a stable creek bank. Motion seconded by Dr. Bagley, motion carried.
John Milam will delete add alternate number one of building a new putting green
and add the above creek bank retaining wall instead. A new putting green will
be reinstated at project end provided money available.
? Oxbow generated revenue of $13,093 and expenses of $28,287.
? Bull Creek generated revenue of $58,640 and expenses of $75,272.
(There were many non- revenue days because of excessive rain.)
A discussion regarding a house located on golf course which is occupied by an
individual who works on golf course driving range with no pay in return. This
arrangement was started several years ago because of vandalism that occurred on
the West #11 hole. John stated this person works 60 hours per month and clocks
in on time clock in return for free rent. Occupant also makes ongoing
improvements to house at his own expense. To date, some of the improvements
have been installing carpet, painting, installing heat pump, etc. Authority
discussed and decided to allow existing tenant to continue living there as long
as he continues to work 60 hours per month and make improvements to the house.
Improvements planned as soon as weather permits are to paint outside of house
and clean-up yard. School players have all paid dues with one exception.
Four carts that were loaned to Air Show at request of Dept. of Recreation had
tires slashed. Tires will be replaced and damage will be covered by Dept. of
Recreation.
John was asked also to make sure unauthorized persons are not allowed behind
counter at Bull Creek.
OLD BUSINESS
Several sample scorecards were presented for review.
There being no further business motion made by Richard Hagler and seconded by
Nancy Wilkeson to adjourn meeting at 5:15pm.
Respectfully submitted,
June Holder, Secretary
