MINUTES # 16-04



The Columbus, Georgia, Board of Tax Assessors met Wednesday, April 21, 2004,

at 2:00PM with Chairman Lawton Grantham, Assessors Ann Grantham, William

Braxton and Pat Hunter present. Also present was Chief Appraiser Martin J.

Land. Assessor Richard Stallings was absent.



Assessor Ann Grantham made a motion to approve Minutes # 15-04, Assessor

William Braxton second the motion, motion carried unanimously.



Met with Mr. Thompson representing First Baptist Church requesting

non-taxability for a mobile home located on Plateau Drive. Mr. Thompson said

they purchased the mobile home at the end of December 2003 and they moved it to

the Plateau Drive location the end of January or the first of February. He said

they had another mobile home at that location but it was removed. He said the

mobile home is used for church services on Sunday and Wednesday. Mr. Thompson

said the property was not used for church purposes on January 1, 2004. The

Board advised Mr. Thompson since the property was not in use on January 1,

2004, it does not qualify for tax exempt status for 2004 and he should reapply

for tax exempt status for 2005.



Met with Commercial Division Chief Linda King, reviewed and approved the

Met with Personal Property Division Chief Oliver Juhan, reviewed and approved

the following:
