Minutes of the 13 July 2004 Meeting

The meeting was called to order by the Chairman Duke Miller at 5 p.m. in the

Mayor's

Conference Room in the Government Center. The following personnel were in

attendance:

Duke Miller From CSU: Tom Dolan, Saskia Eijssen

Bunky Clark From ISTD Fort Benning:

Mary Renteria

Joe Feliciano From the Mayor's Office:

Ed Wilson

Bill C Walton

Kike Seda

Daphne Dove-Pierce

Deidre Williams

The minutes of the previous monthly meeting were discussed and approved.

CIRCLE Treasurer Joe Feliciano presented his report. We have a total of

$7985.96

in our account.

Tom Dolan announced that Mr Arai will not attend the RiverCenter artwork

dedication

due to a health problem.

The RiverCenter artwork dedication is on schedule for 29 July 2004, at 5:30

p.m.

Daphne Dove Pierce has made the arrangements for the reception and the

invitations

have been sent out. There was some discussion about last minute details and

Ms.

Dove-Pierce said she would take care of them. The poster for the dedication has

been

completed and will be brought to the RiverCenter.

The Artwork Brochure holder, to be located near the sculpture in the

RiverCenter was

discussed. Duke Miller said he will check on this holder with James Baudoin,

of The

RiverCenter.

Name tags for Circle members attending the Artwork dedication were discussed

and

Daphne Dove-Pierce said she would put them on her list of things to do..

Tom Dolan told the Commission that the Kiryu students will be arriving on 21

July 2004.

CIRCLE'S reception for them will in the Flag Room, on the Plaza level of the

Government Center, 4-5:15, on 22 July. Speeches are to be held to a minimum and

we want to have a friendly reception welcoming the students to Columbus. Bunky

Clark

has made the arrangements for the catering of refreshments for this event.

Since AFLAC

is the sole corporate sponsor for the Kiryu students, someone from AFLAC should

be invited to make a few welcoming remarks. Duke Miller suggested that some of

the

Japanese corporations in Columbus be invited to the reception. He will discuss

this with

the Chamber of Commerce.

Mary Renteria reported that there are now two Romanian students in the

International

Student Training Division at Fort Benning. They have messages of greeting from

the

Mayor of Bucharest to Mayor Poydasheff. We need to set up a program so these

students can pass on these messages during a CIRCLE meeting.

Ed Wilson reported that communication with the Mayor of Zugdidi, Georgia has

been reestablished and information is being exhanged. He also reported that the

Columbus

Convention and Visitors Bureau has several items from our sister cities Kiryu,

Japan and

Bistrita, Romania for sale in their gift shop.

The next CIRCLE meeting will be held at 5 p.m, on 10 August 2004, in the Mayor's

Conference Room in the Government Center.

There being no further business the meeting was adjourned at about 6 p.m.

Respectfully submitted:
