THE GREATER COLUMBUS GOLF AUTHORITY
MINUTES OF MEETING
January 18, 2005
The Greater Columbus Golf Authority held the scheduled monthly meeting at Bull
Creek Golf Course. Members present were Chairman Donald Clack, Floyd
Washington, Michael Silverstein, Nancy Wilkeson and June Holder. Rev. Willie
Hill and Richard Hagler had an excused absence. Rhudine Nelson and Earl Bagley
had an unexcused absence. Staff members present were John Milam and Steve
Brown.
We did not have a quorum to discuss any new business or approve the minutes
from December 2004 meeting.
Report by Steve Brown, Superintendent
The fairways and driving range have been sprayed for control of winter weeds.
The aprons and around the edges of the tee will be sprayed within the coming
weeks. Some drainage areas have been filled with sod. On 3 West flex stakes
will be installed to control cart traffic at the green. The green will be
painted again in February. This procedure is usually done three times per
year, but will be only be done twice this winter season at a savings of $720.
Maintenance personnel are undergoing in-service training.
The new color flag system has been a great improvement.
Floyd Washington asked Mr. Milam to look into installing a restroom on the
course at Oxbow Creek. The best location would be between 6th green and 7th
tee. John will check into a septic field location and price for this addition.
Report of John Milam, Director of Golf
Godwin Creek
Godwin Creek did not send a financial statement for last month. They are
expecting in the next few weeks to receive donations totaling $16,500. This
money is available to pay off their debts.
Oxbow Creek
When we increased the rates last year, Oxbow Creek lost many players to
Woodland Hills and Red Oak Golf Course, so they will offer dollar days at Oxbow
Creek Monday through Friday. We will also offer a weekday membership (limited
to twenty members) paid yearly. The cost will be $200 for seniors, $350 for
regular membership, $100 for spouses and $25 for each child. These above
figures do not include tax.
Bull Creek
Bull Creek?s revenue increased substantially in the month of December ?04
compared to that of ?03. Everything is weather driven and we have had
unseasonably warm weather to boost the revenue. Mr. Milam passed around the
new score cards that will be available in the spring.
The meeting was completed at 4:18 p.m.
Respectfully submitted,
Nancy Wilkeson, Secretary
