AN ORDINANCE REGULATING VEHICULAR TRAFFIC IN COLUMBUS, GEORGIA BY

ESTABLISHING PARKING RESTRICTIONS WITHIN WERACOBA PARK; DEFINING PUBLIC PARKING

SPACES; DESIGNATING AREAS WHERE PARKING IS PROHIBITED; DESIGNATING AREAS FOR

WHICH VEHICULAR ACCESS IS RESTRICTED TO SERVICE VEHICLES OF THE COLUMBUS

CONSOLIDATED GOVERNMENT; AUTHORIZING THE INSTALLATION OF OFFICIAL TRAFFIC

CONTROL SIGNS DESIGNATING APPLICABLE RESTRICTIONS; REPEALING ANY CONFLICTING

ORDINANCES AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES.

THE COUNCIL OF COLUMBUS, GEORGIA HEREBY ORDAINS:



SECTION I.



The restrictions described in this ordinance apply to Weracoba Park

which is described as the City park property that is bound by Garrard Street to

the north, Cherokee Avenue to the east, 13th Street to the south and 18th

Avenue to the west. Weracoba Park is also bisected by 17th Street from east to

west.



SECTION II.



Within Weracoba Park, a public parking space is defined as (1) a paved

parking space which is an angled or parallel parking space marked or outlined

in white or yellow traffic paint on an asphalt or concrete paved surface or (2)

an unpaved parking space which is an angled parking space located on an unpaved

surface of dirt, gravel or grass and identified by a minimum five (5) foot long

Wheel Stop located at the front of the parking space.



SECTION III.



Within Weracoba Park as described above, it shall be unlawful to park

privately owned vehicles in driveways, on sidewalks, on ball fields, on

playgrounds, on service roads or any other areas where official "No Parking

Anytime" signs are posted by the City.



SECTION IV.



It shall be unlawful for private vehicles to access that portion of

Weracoba Park located south of 17th Street and bounded by Cherokee Avenue to

the east, 13th Street to the south and 18th Avenue to the west except for

service vehicles belonging to the Columbus Consolidated Government, privately

owned vehicles with handicap identification using the marked handicap parking

spaces and privately owned vehicles that have displayed on the front dash an

Event Permit from the Parks and Recreation Department describing the date and

time of the event.



SECTION V.



Official traffic control signs shall be installed indicating the

restrictions described in Sections II, III and IV of this ordinance.



SECTION VI.



All ordinances and parts of ordinances in conflict with this ordinance

are hereby repealed.
