A RESOLUTION
No.
WHEREAS, the 2001 Council Districting Commission members were sworn in on
October 10, 2001 and recently completed their duties prescribed by the Columbus
Charter;
WHEREAS, the Commission has submitted a recommended plan for reapportionment of
Council districts based upon the latest census data;
WHEREAS, the Commission has worked hard to develop a recommended plan which
shifts a small number of precincts and keeps contiguous Council districts;
WHEREAS, the 2001 Districting Commission deserves special recognition by this
Council for their work.
NOW, THEREFORE, THE COUNCIL OF COLUMBUS, GEORGIA HEREBY RESOLVES:
We commend and express our appreciation to the following 2001 Council
Districting Commission members for submitting a recommended reapportionment
plan required by the Columbus Charter: Chairman Ted Land, Maurine Allen,
George Lee Bayard, Glenda Boynton, Charles Clark, Gladys Ford, Harold
Funderburg, Samuel Hamlett, Mildred King, Probate Judge Julia W. Lumpkin, Cindy
Lawrimore, Lee Nalley, Jerry Newman, Allen Parham, Alan Rothschild, Jr., Billy
Sheppard and Sarah Shepherd. Let a copy this resolution be forwarded to each
member of the Districting Commission.
