A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE ACCEPTANCE OF $120,400.00 IN FUNDING FROM THE
FEDERAL BUREAU OF ALCOHOL, TOBACCO AND FIREARMS TO SUPPORT THE OPERATIONAL
COSTS OF THE GANG RESISTANCE EDUCATION AND TRAINING PROGRAM (G.R.E.A.T) AND TO
AMEND THE MULTI-GOVERNMENTAL FUND (216) BY A LIKE AMOUNT.
WHEREAS, the Columbus Consolidated Government and the Columbus Police
Department are committed to programs designed to decrease gang violence,
membership, and repeat juvenile offenders; and
WHEREAS, the G.R.E.A.T. Program has provided educational and alternative
programs to juveniles who are at risk; and,
WHEREAS, the Federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms has currently
awarded $120,400.00 in funding through a cooperative agreement specifically for
the G.R.E.A.T. Program which requires no matching funds from the Columbus
Consolidated Government; and
NOW, THEREFORE, THE COUNCIL OF COLUMBUS, GEORGIA, HEREBY
RESOLVES AS FOLLOWS:
THAT the Mayor authorized to apply for and accept the award of $120,400.00 in
funding from the Federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms for the
operation of the Gang Resistance Education and Training Program.
