A RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, Benjamin S. Richardson, Muscogee County Solicitor General, was

recently profiled in Georgia Trend magazine as one of Georgia's 40 brightest

leaders under the age of 40;



WHEREAS, in 2003, he was appointed by Governor Roy Barnes as the first

African-American in Georgia to hold the position of solicitor general;



WHEREAS, as a prosecutor, he strives to focus on punishment of criminals who

deserve jail time, but he also utilizes fines, community service and counseling

when appropriate to help minimize the jail population;



WHEREAS, he also serves on the boards of the local chapter of the Red Cross and

the Columbus Symphony, has served as president of the Columbus Bar Association,

and speaks often to youth groups at Columbus schools.



NOW, THEREFORE, THE COUNCIL OF COLUMBUS, GEORGIA HEREBY RESOLVES:



We hereby commend and congratulate Benjamin S. Richardson, Muscogee County

Solicitor General, upon his recent recognition by Georgia Trend magazine as one

of Georgia's 40 brightest leaders under the age of 40. Let a copy of this

resolution be forwarded to Mr. Benjamin S. Richardson.
