A RESOLUTION

NO.



WHEREAS, Mr. E. H. "Bud" Ruffner of Columbus died on July 27, 2002;



WHEREAS, Mr. Ruffner was born December 26, 1921, in Phoenix, Arizona and

graduated from Dartmouth College and its Tuck School of Business;



WHEREAS, he retired as Manager with J.C. Penney after 48 years of service and

afterwards was very active in the Columbus Men's Garden Club, the Service

Corporation of Retired Executives (SCORE), the Muscogee Elementary 3rd Grade

Reading Program and the Rotary Club;



WHEREAS, Mr. Ruffner served on the Board of Directors of the Georgia Retail

Association and was a founding member of the Urban League of Greater Columbus;



WHEREAS, he served many charitable and civic organizations including the Red

Cross, United Way, Boy Scouts, and the Columbus Chamber of Commerce and served

as President of the Merchant's Association of Natchez, Mississippi, Downtown

Columbus and Columbus Square Mall, and was President of the Better Business

Bureau and the Downtown Rotary Club;



WHEREAS, Mr. Ruffner was a founding member of St. George Anglican Church.



NOW, THEREFORE, THE COUNCIL OF COLUMBUS, GEORGIA HEREBY RESOLVES:



We hereby convey to the family of Mr. E. H. "Bud" Ruffner our sincere

condolences and deepest sympathy. His service to the Columbus community will

long be remembered. Let a copy of this resolution be forwarded to the family

of Mr. E. H. Ruffner.
