SUBJECT: Council Of Juvenile Court Judges Grant



INITIATED BY: Juvenile Court

Recommendation: Authorize the Mayor to submit a request for additional funds

from the Council of Juvenile Court Judges of Georgia in the amount of $3,000 to

continue funding to purchase services for juvenile offenders; amend the

Multi-Governmental Fund for like amount.



Background: Columbus is eligible for $3,000 in additional funds for the

existing grant period.



Analysis: The funds will be used for purchase of services for juvenile

offenders.



Financial Considerations: The Office of the Council of Juvenile Court Judges

does not require any matching funds.



Legal Considerations: The Columbus Consolidated Government has been notified

of its eligibility to receive these funds.



Recommendation/Action: Authorize the Mayor to submit a request for additional

funds in the amount of $3,000 to continue funding for the purpose of services

for juvenile offenders; amend the Multi-Governmental Fund for like amount.

A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR TO SUBMIT A REQUEST FOR ADDITIONAL FUNDS

FROM THE COUNCIL OF JUVENILE COURT JUDGES OF GEORGIA IN THE AMOUNT OF $3,000 TO

CONTINUE FUNDING TO PURCHASE SERVICES FOR JUVENILE OFFENDERS; AMEND THE

MULTI-GOVERNMENTAL FUND FOR LIKE AMOUNT.



WHEREAS, additional funds have been made available from the Office of

the Council of Juvenile Court judges for the purpose of purchase of services

for juvenile offenders; and,



WHEREAS, Columbus is eligible for $3,000 in additional funds for the

existing offenders; and,



WHEREAS, a coalition was formed to determine how these funds were to be

spent; and,



WHEREAS, the Council of Juvenile Court Judges does not require a 10%

match for these additional funds.



NOW, THEREFORE, THE COUNCIL OF COLUMBUS, GEORGIA, HEREBY RESOLVES AS

FOLLOWS:



That the Mayor is hereby authorized to submit and if approved, accept

additional funds from the Council of Juvenile Court Judges for $3,000 to

purchase services for juvenile offenders; amend the Multi-Governmental fund for

like amount.

Introduced at a regular meeting of the Council of Columbus, Georgia, held the

_____day of ___________, and adopted at said meeting by the affirmative vote of

______ members of said Council.
