Council Members
WHEREAS, Mr. Jim Rhodes of Columbus has recently been honored at the Command
Awards Ceremony held at Fort Benning, Georgia on April 26, 2002;
WHEREAS, he was recognized for all of the volunteer work which he has done
for the soldiers and their families at Fort Benning and in the Columbus
community;
WHEREAS, he has also been recognized by the American Battle Monuments
Commission for his efforts in support of the National World War II
Memorial Campaign and he was one of the prime movers of the Eternal Flame
Memorial which honors Columbus veterans;
WHEREAS, Mr. Rhodes has also organized neighborhood improvement programs such
as the Neighborhood Watch Program in Hunter's Point and the North Columbus
Concerned Citizens and he was instrumental in the renaming of Veterans Parkway;
WHEREAS, the volunteer efforts of Mr. Jim Rhodes are worthy of special
recognition by this Council.
NOW, THEREFORE, THE COUNCIL OF COLUMBUS, GEORGIA HEREBY RESOLVES:
We hereby commend Mr. Jim Rhodes upon his receipt of honors at the Command
Awards Ceremony at Fort Benning on April 26, 2002. We express our deep
appreciation for his volunteer efforts at Fort Benning and in the Columbus
community and we wish him every success in the future. Let a copy of this
Resolution be forwarded to Mr. Jim Rhodes.

Introduced at a regular meeting of the Council of Columbus, Georgia held on the
30th day of April, 2002, and adopted at said meeting by the affirmative vote of
ten members of Council.
