An Ordinance recognizing the Paramedic Diploma and Licensure by the State of

Georgia as equivalent to an associate degree; and for other purposes.

THE COUNCIL OF COLUMBUS, GEORGIA HEREBY ORDAINS:



SECTION 1.



Effective April 1, 2003, completion of a Paramedic diploma program and

licensure as a Paramedic by the State of Georgia is hereby recognized as

equivalent to an associate degree for hiring and retention purposes only.

Individuals meeting and retaining said qualifications will be classified as

FireMedic, grade 10. This Ordinance shall not be construed as waiving the

associate or higher degree requirement for any other process, including

promotional qualification.



SECTION 2.



This ordinance shall become effective on April 1, 2003.



SECTION 3.



All ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict with this ordinance are

hereby repealed.
