Lawrence, Stan Stovall, Donna Baudoin, Ann Davis, Linda McLemore, Elliott

CALL TO ORDER
The meeting was called to order by Chairperson Donna Baudoin at 12:00 p.m.
APPROVAL OF MINUTES OF THE DECEMBER 10, 2002 MEETING
The minutes of the February 11, 2003 Commissioner?s meeting were approved.
TREASURER?S REPORT
The Treasurers report was presented by Commissioner Julie Bray and approved.
PETITIONS & COMMUNICATIONS
Chairperson Donna Baudoin presented to the Commissioners the following:
? Acknowledgement of Susan Culpepper?s farewell from Keep Columbus Beautiful
Commission.
? Nicole Bray will become a full time employee with Keep Columbus Beautiful.
? Executive Director Gloria Weston-Smart was one of the 2003 Girl Scout Women
of Achievement.
OLD BUSINESS
? Nominating Committee Report: Commissioner Susan Anderson stated that eleven
slots need to be filled for the next fiscal year and eight Commissioners were
up for re-appointment and have agreed to be re-appointed. Susan reported that
the committee has nine candidates that were nominated by Councilors and
Commissioners to fill the vacancies.
? Yard Waste Composting: Commissioner Bill Green reported that he has been
speaking with different people in the community regarding the possible
implementation of a yard waste composting project in the city of Columbus. He
stated that the yard waste composting project can work if it is a public or
private partnership. Commissioner Green expressed a desire to take the project
to the next level and asked other Commissioners to join in the effort. An
update will be presented at the next Commissioner?s meeting.
NEW BUSINESS
? Chairperson Donna Baudoin presented the 2003-04 Calendar to the
Commissioner?s.
? Executive Director Gloria Weston-Smart introduced an idea called Lunch and
Learn. The purpose of the Lunch and Learn would be to educate the community
about environmental issues. More information will be forth coming.
HIGHLIGHTS OF COMMITTEE REPORTS
? Awards Luncheon: Commissioner David Hay reported that the Awards Luncheon
will be held at CSU, Elizabeth Bradley Turner Center on May 15, 2003. Girl
Friends will provide the food and special entertainment will be presented by
Double Churches and Eddy Middle School. Commissioners were asked to pay an
extra to $10.00 dollars for one of the children?s lunches.
? Magic of Recycling: Chairperson Donna Baudoin reported that the Magic of
Recycling will take place May 6-9, 2003 at the Liberty Theatre. Donna
encouraged Commissioners who have not seen the Magic of Recycling show to
attend one of this years shows.
? Great American Cleanup: Gloria reported that the area cleanups in communities
and on school campuses was a success. KCBC supplied the supplies needed to
conduct the cleanups.
