MINUTES # 25-02
The Columbus, Georgia, Board of Tax Assessors met Wednesday, June 26, 2002 ,
at 2:00PM with Chairman Beatrice Breaux, Assessors Lawton Grantham, Richard
Stallings, Ann Grantham and William Braxton present. Also present was Chief
Appraiser Martin J. Land
Assessor Richard Stallings made a motion to approve Minutes # 25-02, Assessor
Ann Grantham second it, motion carried unanimously.
Chief Appraiser Martin Land furnished each Assessor with a copy of Judge
Peagler?s ruling on the tax freeze. A general discussion followed.
The Board reviewed the documentation submitted by Mr. Tidwell regarding his
appeal and ruled it as a timely appeal.
The Board discussed Wynnbrook Baptist Church request for non-taxable status.
Assessor Lawton Grantham made a motion to deny the request for the year of
2001. Chairman Breaux seconded the motion, the motion passed by a vote of 4-1
with Assessor Richard Stallings dissenting. Assessor Ann Grantham made a motion
to grant tax exempt status for the year 2002, motion seconded by Assessor
Richard Stallings and carried by a vote of 4-1 with Assessor Lawton Grantham
dissenting.
Met with Personal Property Division Chief Oliver Juhan, reviewed and approved
the following:
