MINUTES # 43-03



The Columbus, Georgia, Board of Tax Assessors met Wednesday, October 29, 2003,

at 2:00PM with

Chairman Lawton Grantham, Assessors Richard Stallings, Ann Grantham, William

Braxton and Pat Hunter present. Also present was Chief Appraiser Martin J.

Land.



Assessor William Braxton made a motion to approve Minutes #42-03, Assessor

Richard Stallings second the motion, motion carried unanimously.



The Board approved the change of assessments for public utilities for 2003.



Met with Mr. Smajd representing Columbus Hospice, Inc. regarding a request for

non-taxability for property located at 7040 Moon Rd (Parcel ID 081 041 003).

Mr. Smajd said Columbus Hospice, Inc. purchased the property in September 2002.

He said the property is adjacent to the current Hospice facility and it was

purchased for future expansion. He said currently it is not being used. The

Board advised Mr. Smajd for property to qualify this year for non-taxable

status it had to be used on January 1. The Board denied the request for

non-taxability for the year 2003. They told Mr. Smajd to reapply for tax

exemption when the property is being used for charitable purposes.
