A RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, Los Angeles Dodger pitcher Edwin Jackson, formerly of Columbus, won

his first major league ballgame on September 9, 2003, defeating the Arizona

Diamondbacks 4-1;



WHEREAS, the former Shaw High School standout also celebrated his 20th birthday

with the victory, becoming the third-youngest starting pitcher in Dodgers'

history and setting a national league record by winning on his birthday;



WHEREAS, Jackson mowed down batters through six innings of play and struck out

four Diamondbacks during his tremendous debut;



WHEREAS, Columbus is proud of Edwin Jackson and his accomplishments are worthy

of special recognition by this Council.



NOW, THEREFORE, THE COUNCIL OF COLUMBUS, GEORGIA HEREBY RESOLVES:



We hereby commend and congratulate Los Angeles Dodger pitcher Edwin Jackson

upon his first major league victory on September 9, 2003. Columbus is truly

proud of his accomplishments and we wish him every success and multiple

strikeouts in the future. Let a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Edwin

Jackson at Dodger Stadium and his parents, Edwin and Regenia Jackson.
