Mr. Walter Wright, Vice-Chairperson called the board meeting to order.
Motion was made to accept the minutes of the March board meeting. Vote was
unanimous.
NEW BUSINESS:
GEOA Training: Nancy gave the board an overview of the Georgia Election
Officials Association meeting that was attended by Diane, Raymond and herself
in Augusta, Georgia. No legislation had been passed. News of the new voting
equipment was learned.
The board was told that the attorney, Jacob Beil, wrote the new legal
description of the council districts.
OLD BUSINESS:
The board was updated on the things that are being done to the office.
Pollworker Training Session: The board was given copies of literature that was
obtained in Augusta on pollworker training that Savannah and Gainesville uses
for their training. Nancy asked the board how they would like for the
pollworkers to be trained, together as a precinct or the clerks separate from
the managers. The Public Safety Complex will be used for the training during
the week of June 3-7 . A hundred workers can be trained at one session. There
will be 2 to 3 sessions a day. Twelve workers per precinct will be trained.
If the workers do not attend training, they will not be allowed to work on
election day. Ken recommended that all the split precincts be trained together
so that it will not confuse the precinct workers who are not involved with the
split precincts.
The Wynnton and Britt precincts will be combined as a super precinct at the
Wynnton United Methodist Church. Ken made a motion to keep the move of Wynnton
and Britt, move the Courthouse precinct to First African Baptist Church,
evaluate, and see how the super precinct concept works then re-address at a
later time to see how many super precincts to create. Motion seconded. Vote
unanimous.
STATE WIDE UNIFORM ELECTRONIC VOTING INITIATIVE: The board was given copies of
the initial plan.
CORRESPONDENCE: An invitation was received for a complimentary lunch for a
candidate that is seeking the 11th Congressional District at the Frank Lumpkin
Center at CSU on April 29th.
Being no further business to discuss, the meeting was adjourned.
