The Columbus, Georgia, Board of Tax Assessors met Wednesday, August 6, 2003, at

2:00PM with Chairman Lawton Grantham, Assessors Richard Stallings, Ann

Grantham, William Braxton and Pat Hunter present. Also present was Chief

Appraiser Martin J. Land.



Assessor Ann Grantham made a motion to approve Minutes #30-03, Assessor Pat

Hunter second the motion, motion carried unanimously.



Met with Mr. Nichols regarding his appeal for property located at 2616 Avalon

Rd. Mr. Nichols said he purchased the property in 2001 for $26,800. He said he

thought the property should be appraised for purchase amount. He said he has

done some minor repair and replaced the air conditioner. He said the driveway

was on a steep incline. He said he rented the property for $400 a month. The

Board explained to Mr. Nichols that the value placed on the property reflects

what it would sell for today and not the purchase amount. Mr. Nichols said he

would talk to his tenants about purchasing the property before considering

withdrawing the appeal. The Board made no change in value.



Chief Appraiser Martin Land presented the following, which were reviewed and

approved by the Board.

The Board also approved a development authority letter (the WCCBA Family, LLLP

Project) for 2003.



The Board reviewed the articles of incorporation and by-laws submitted by

Columbus for Kids, Inc. and approved tax exempt status for parcel ID 080 001

080 for the year 2003.
