A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO AMEND THE "CONTRACT FOR

MAINTENANCE OF HIGHWAYS" WITH THE GEORGIA DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION.



WHEREAS, the Columbus Consolidated Government entered into an agreement with

the Georgia Department of Transportation to perform maintenance on the state

highways; and,



WHEREAS, the Georgia Department of Transportation will pay the City of

Columbus, Georgia $3500.00 per mile per year for said maintenance; and,



WHEREAS, the maintenance performed by the City of Columbus will improve the

appearance and condition of state highways; and,



WHEREAS, the revenue generated by performing maintenance on state highways

will offset operational costs.



NOW, THEREFORE THE COUNCIL OF COLUMBUS, GEORGIA, HEREBY RESOLVES AS FOLLOWS:



That the City Manager is hereby authorized to amend the Highway

Maintenance Agreement with the Georgia Department of Transportation.
