MINUTES # 07-02



The Columbus, Georgia, Board of Tax Assessors met Wednesday, February 20, 2002,

at 2:00PM with Chairman Beatrice Breaux, Assessors Lawton Grantham, Richard

Stallings and Ann Grantham present. Also present was Chief Appraiser Martin J.

Land. Assessor John Kendrick was absent.



Approved Minutes # 06-02.



The Board approved one assessment correction for real estate and five

assessment corrections for personal property accounts.



The following VA letter of application for VA exemption was reviewed and

approved:



072 009 005 Forsythe Approved.



Mr. King had an appointment with the Board of Tax Assessors, however, did not

appear (Personal Property Account B1421201).



Met with Mr. Willis regarding his personal property account 05987801. Mr.

Willis said he purchased his business license in 1999 to start a mail order and

catalog business but it never took off. He said the only assets he had were

some display items. He said he sold toys, dolls, etc. The Board reduced the

2000 fair market value to $2,500 and removed the 2001 assessment.



Mr. Holland had an appointment with the Board of Tax Assessors, however, did

not appear (Personal Property account 05003701).



Met with Residential Division Chief Bob O?Brien, reviewed and approved the

following:



2001 Map Splits: 3

2002 Map Splits: 6



The Board approved tax exempt status for 2002 for parcels ID 069 004 022, 030

016 001X and 032

038 005A which were reviewed by the Residential Division.

Met with Commercial Division Chief Linda King, reviewed and approved the

following:



2001 Map Split: 3

2002 Permits: 41

2002 Transfers: 8



The Board approved tax exempt status for 2002 for parcel ID 064 001 032, but

denied non-taxability for parcel ID 064 001 033 which were reviewed by the

Commercial Division.
