SECTION 16B 15-7 Military Leave.
(a) Any permanent employee who leaves the service of the consolidated city
to join the military forces of the United States during time of war or other
national emergency, as determined by the city council, or is inducted by the
Selective Service, shall be placed on military leave without pay, such leave to
extend through a date 90 days after which he is relieved from such service.
Such employee shall be entitled to be restored to the position which he
vacated, provided he makes application to the personnel officer within 90 days
of the date of his honorable discharge or discharge under honorable conditions,
and is physically and mentally capable of performing the work of his position.
Time so served shall be considered as continuous employment with the
consolidated city.
(b) In the event a position vacated by a person entering the armed service
no longer exists at the time he qualified to return to work, such person shall
be entitled to be reemployed in another position of the same class in the
consolidated city service.
(c) Any permanent employee who is a member of the National Guard or a
military reserve of the United States will be allowed a leave of absence, with
pay, not to exceed 18 days during any calendar year for training or other
related ordered military duty upon presentation of orders to the supervisor and
the personnel officer. Such leave shall not be charged to annual leave.
