Council Members
A RESOLUTION
NO.
WHEREAS, former Columbus Councilor Philip H. Batastini died on Sunday, January
2, 2005 at his home;
WHEREAS, he was the former owner of Batastini Cleaners and along with his
father, Philip J. Batastini, served the citizens of Columbus as Post 10 Council
Representatives for 25 years;
WHEREAS, in 1983, he defeated a half-dozen candidates vying the Post 10 seat
previously held by his father;
WHEREAS, he retired from the U. S. Army after 20 years of service and later
would take over the family business at Batastini Cleaners;
WHEREAS, he was the past Master of Mt. Hermon Masonic Lodge No. 314, was a
member of the Knights of Columbus and the Scottish Rites and was a Shriner;
WHEREAS, he is survived by his wife, Rosemarie Hargrove Batastini of Columbus,
two sons, David Todd Batastini of Box Springs and Philip Scott Batastini of
Columbus, one brother, James "Jimmy" Batastini of Chicago, Illinois and three
grandchildren.
NOW, THEREFORE, THE COUNCIL OF COLUMBUS, GEORGIA HEREBY RESOLVES:
We hereby express our sincere condolences and deepest sympathy to the family of
Philip H. Batastini. His thirteen years of service on the Columbus Council and
his service to his community and country will long be remembered. Let a copy
of this Resolution be forwarded to the family of Philip H. Batastini.

Introduced at a regular meeting of the Council of Columbus, Georgia held on the
18TH day of January, 2005, and adopted at said meeting by the affirmative vote
of ten members of Council.
