To: Honorable Mayor Bob Poydasheff and Columbus City Council Members,
According to the 2000 US Census, the Hispanic/Latino population is the fastest
growing population in our country and this growth is reflected in the Columbus
community as well. Because we recognize the growing diversity of our
community, we want to ensure that the services provided by the Columbus
Consolidated Government meet the needs of all our citizens, and that our
employees are prepared to embrace the various ethnic cultures that make up this
fine community.
On behalf of the Columbus Consolidated Government, I invite you to serve as an
advisory member to the Hispanic Outreach Project (HOP). A HOP committee of
Columbus Consolidated Government employees will serve on an internal committee.
I hope you will accept this invitation and assist us in this important outreach
initiative. As an advisory council member to HOP, you will be asked to attend
a limited number of meetings to share your knowledge and offer advice regarding
the challenges Hispanics/Latinos face in our community. Please communicate
your interest in serving to Ms. Erica Turner at 706/653-4017 or via e-mail
ericaturner@columbusga.org or e-mail me at rhollowell@columbusga.org. Please
let us know your response as soon as possible.
You are invited to attend a HOP advisory council meeting on Thursday, April 17,
2003 at 4:00 PM in the Ground Floor Conference Room at the Government Center.
Let me thank you in advance for your anticipated prompt response and interest
in this endeavor.
Sincerely,
Reather D. Hollowell
HOP Coordinator
