Description As it relates to the bid openings for semi-automatic pistols on May
22, 2002, have the staff to provide information as to why are we purchasing the
Glock semi-automatic pistols, as we have all Smith & Wesson pistols. (Request
of Councilor McDaniel)

Response The Sheriff's Department wants to phase out Smith & Wesson concealment
weapons. They like the shape, weight, features of the Glock compared to Smith
& Wesson. They have sent two staff members to Glock for training for
maintenance of these weapons.
