Minutes of Meeting

January 22, 2002



The Greater Columbus Golf Authority held the scheduled monthly meeting at Bull

Creek Golf Course. Members present were Michael Silverstein, Chairman, Dr.

Earl Bagley, June Holder, Judge Albert Thompson, Rannie Lewis, Donald Clack,

Rhudine Nelson, and Rick Cravens. Authority member Willie Hill had an excused

absence. Staff members present were John Milam and Steve Brown.





The Golf Authority minutes of December 2001 were approved as presented. Motion

by Rannie Lewis, second by Donald Clack.



Report of Steve Brown, Superintendent



Bull Creek Golf Course



? Have met with the architect to discuss the tree removal on the back 9

of the East Course.

? The sprinkler heads are being removed from the back 9 of the East

Course.

? Will be working on weed control of the aprons and fairways of the

East and West Courses at Bull Creek.



Oxbow Creek Golf Course



? Will be repairing wash areas on the golf course.

? Will also be working on weed control of the aprons and fairways of

the golf course.



Godwin Creek Golf Course



? There was no representative from Godwin Creek Golf Course at the

Authority meeting.

? Michael Silverstein has received the last two months financial

reports for Godwin Creek Golf Course.

? There will be a First Tee meeting next Wednesday, January 30, 2002.

John Milam and Michael Silverstein will attend this meeting and will request

accurate financial reports.



Report of John Milam, Director of Golf



? Bull Creek Golf Course generated revenue of $124,314.05 ($60,000.00

of this revenue was a carry over from last month) and had expenses of

$84,977.01 for the month of December 2001.

? Oxbow Creek Golf Course generated revenue of $163,984.77 ($150,000.00

of this revenue was from the City of Columbus) and had expenses of $23,011.77

for the month of December 2001.











Old Business



? The Environmental Protection Agency is urging the State of Georgia to

buy the landfill in South Columbus and cap it. Once this is done, this could

become the area for an additional nine holes for Oxbow Creek Golf Course.

? The work has begun on the course renovation of the backside of the

East Course. The phase two preliminary estimate sheet was given to the

Authority. Total project cost for this phase is estimated at $2,050,114.80.



New Business



? Golf Coach, Larry Gaither of Hardaway High School, would like to host

the Hardaway Invitational Golf Tournament April 12 & 13, 2002 at Bull Creek

Golf Course. Bull Creek would receive $1,500.00 per day to host the tournament

(this would be $3,000.00 for the tournament). Under normal conditions, Bull

Creek would generate approximately $7,000.00 for this Friday and Saturday in

April. The Authority has asked John Milam to contact Coach Gaither to discuss

different options to generate more revenue for Bull Creek from this tournament.

? With the help of Gary Stickles, the head of streets and sidewalks for

the City of Columbus, the concrete work for the pavilion has been completed.

? The Hughston Hospital will be recognized at the February 5th, 2002

Columbus City Council for their building of the Hughston Hospital pavilion at

Bull Creek Golf Course. The grand opening ceremony of the pavilion will be

February 28, 2002.



There being no other business, the meeting was adjourned at 4:50 PM. The next

Authority meeting will be at 4:00 PM, Tuesday, February 26, 2002 at Bull Creek

Golf Course.
