AN ORDINANCE

An ordinance increasing the promotional cycle and promotional roster

from a 12-month period to a 24-month period for the Columbus Department of Fire

and Emergency Medical Services; and for other purposes.

THE COUNCIL OF COLUMBUS, GEORGIA HEREBY ORDAINS:



SECTION 1.



Section 11-17.3 (g) of the Columbus Code is hereby amended by deleting

the fourth sentence in its entirety and inserting new fourth sentence to read

as follows:

"For the third promotional cycle, the eligibility date shall be 24 months after

October 15, 2002 and for subsequent promotional cycles, the eligibility date

shall be set at subsequent 24-month intervals thereafter."

SECTION 2.

Section 11-17.4 (c) of the Columbus Code is hereby amended by deleting the

third, fourth and fifth sentences in their entirety and by substituting the

following language:

"Beginning in calendar year 2004, said promotional roster shall be established

on January 1 and shall expire on December 31, 2005 at 2400 hours with

subsequent establishment and expiration dates at 24-month intervals

thereafter. As such, each promotional roster established on or after January

1, 2004, shall have an initial duration life of 24 months from the date on

which it is established."

SECTION 3.



All ordinances and parts of ordinances in conflict with this ordinance

are hereby repealed.
