Columbus, Georgia

WHEREAS, the NFCA Leadoff Classic was held at South Commons February 21-23,

2003;



WHEREAS, Massachusetts squeaked past Alabama with a tie-breaker based on number

of runs allowed to capture first place;



WHEREAS, the Crimson Tide finished second in the NFCA Leadoff Classic for the

second straight year;



WHEREAS, others teams participating included Notre Dame, Nebraska, Arizona

State, Washington, LSU, Oklahoma and Fullerton;



WHEREAS, the Greater Columbus Sports and Events Council staff and volunteers

outlasted the weather and did a superb job of staging this year's tournament.



NOW, THEREFORE, THE COUNCIL OF COLUMBUS, GEORGIA HEREBY RESOLVES:



We hereby commend and express our appreciation to Janice Davis and the staff at

the Greater Columbus Sports and Events Council for their hard work, patience

and courtesy to all the teams and fans visiting Columbus for the NFCA Leadoff

Classic held at South Commons February 21-23, 2003. Let a copy of this

resolution be forwarded to Janice Davis at the Greater Columbus Sports and

Events Council.
