A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY TO ACCEPT GRANT FUNDS IN THE AMOUNT

OF $85,000 FROM THE OFFICE OF SCHOOL READINESS.



WHEREAS, the After School/Summer Program administered by the Columbus

Parks and Recreation Department offers activities to youth; and,





WHEREAS, the Columbus Parks and Recreation Department administers the

After School Program in 42 locations throughout the city; and,



WHEREAS, the Columbus Parks and Recreation Department Community Schools

Division provides daily nutritious snacks to program participants at

significant cost to the city; and,



WHEREAS, the need for wholesome recreational and educational activities

is offered to participants from 2:00 P.M. to 6:00 P.M. with nutritional

components included.



NOW, THEREFORE, THE COUNCIL OF COLUMBUS, GEORGIA, HEREBY RESOLVES AS

FOLLOWS:



That the City Manager is hereby authorized to submit an application and

if approved accept funds for the Snack Reimbursement Program from the Office of

School Readiness. The Program is funded by a grant in the amount of $85,000

from the State of Georgia Office of School Readiness.

Introduced at a regular meeting of the Council of Columbus, Georgia,
