The Columbus, Georgia, Board of Tax Assessors met Wednesday, August 4, 2004, at

2:00PM with Chairman Lawton Grantham, Assessors Richard Stallings, Ann Grantham

and Pat Hunter present. Also present was Chief Appraiser Martin J. Land.

Assessor William Braxton was absent.



Assessor Richard Stallings made a motion to approve Minutes # 30-04, Assessor

Pat Hunter second the motion, motion carried unanimously.



The Board approved assessment corrections for real estate.



Chief Appraiser Martin Land presented assessment corrections for the Personal

Property Division, which were reviewed and approved by the Board:

Met with Ms. Mott and Ms. Thomas representing Christ for India, Inc. regarding

a request for non-taxability for property located at 7300 Old Moon Rd (Parcel

ID 081 022 001). She said they purchased the property in September 2003 and did

not begin using it until the end of January 2004. She said the property is

being used as an office building for Hopegivers International, the American

Headquarters for Emmanuel Ministries. She said they used the office to raise

money to support orphans and schools in India. She said they own 11 acres of

land and they had a vision for the future utilizing the excess land to build a

school. She submitted a letter from the IRS granting the organization exemption

from Federal Income Taxes Sec 501(c)(3) and some brochures about Hopegivers

International. The Board requested them to furnished copies of the by-laws and

articles of incorporation. The Board delayed action until the requested

information is provided.



Met with Commercial Division Chief Linda King, reviewed and approved the

following:

Permits: 10



The Board also approved tax exempt status for parcel ID 096 007 063 for 2004

which was field reviewed by the Commercial Division.
