The Columbus, Georgia, Board of Tax Assessors met Wednesday, July 30, 2003, at

2:00PM with Chairman Lawton Grantham, Assessors Richard Stallings, Ann

Grantham, William Braxton and Pat Hunter present. Also present was Chief

Appraiser Martin J. Land.



Assessor Pat Hunter made a motion to approve Minutes #29-03, Assessor Richard

Stallings second the motion, motion carried unanimously.



The Board reviewed a letter of appeal regarding the removal of homestead

exemption for parcel ID 133 002 019. The Board upheld the denial of homestead

exemption.



Met with Mrs. Rumer representing Columbus for Kids, Inc. requesting

non-taxability for property located on Veterans Parkway (Parcel ID 080 001

080). Mrs. Rumer told the Board, Columbus for Kids, Inc. is a non-profit 501(3)

(c) organization which provides emergency placement shelter for

abused/neglected foster children. She said the property was purchased in May

2002 and began its operation in August 2002. She said they receive funds on a

per diem basis from the State and through private donations. The Board

requested Mrs. Rumer to furnish a copy of the articles of incorporation and the

by-laws. The Board delayed action until they can review the articles of

incorporation and the by-laws.
